Hey all,,,will be heading to Pine City for a Booya Picnic on Sunday. Darnell, Brittany and Michelle will be working on winning another Swan at the Bingo. If anyone wants to come over on Friday for a work pool/happy hour party after 4pm your more than welcome. Summer is closing in and the pool will be shut down a bit earlier than last year. Brittany did well at tryouts today. Not sure if she'll play for the new club even if asked.....

Happy New Year everyone!!! Kids (everyone), please don't hold a key down for a long time (like "nnnnnnnnnnnnnn", etc). It's OK to do this a LITTLE (like up to 50 or so), but when you put in hundreds of them, the web page doesn't know how to deal with what looks like a HUGE, single, WORD. (THANKS!)

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good morning!! We woke up to a sunny morning with the temp's hovering around 25 degrees. Birds are chirping, boys are just now starting to get up. What a difference from those years of getting up when it's still dark to open presents! Hope everyone has a great day as well as a safe and happy New Years eve. And we all wish you all a safe and prosperous 2009.

Hi All! We are on our way with making our house look a whole lot nicer. The roof is done (Carly calls the color CHOCOLATE)! The cranberry colored shutters are on and the deck that is going on the front of the house has the footings dug. Can't wait for that project to get done! I have only waited 10 years... I suppose I can wait a couple more weeks. I got a nice sum of money from a bonus here at work that will pay for both the deck and a new computer. Hope all is well with all of you!!!

Please remember everyone, that you should NEVER put an e-mail address (completely and accurately) in ANY "guestbook" type page/web site. This is one of the EASIEST places for the spammers to grab addresses. If you want to communicate an address, do it even if only slightly more cleverly, like "my name at our family's domain" etc. This would be readable and understandable, but doesn't provide anything the spammers' web-bots can find.

Chris
- 6/09/2008 07:24:51 PM (CDT)

Greetings all! It's been awhile since my last posting so I guess I should catch up. Candy and I had an interesting trip to Mexico in early May. We had to de-ice to leave Denver and thus missed our connecting flight from Houston to Cancun. But we got to spend a great evening chatting with Paul, who came over to the hotel to visit. In the airport the next day we ran in to Candy's brother (his daughter was the one getting married) and it turned out we were on the same flight to Cancun so we hooked up and made our destination without further problems. We had a wonderful 2 1/2 days on Isla Mujeres, took in some sun, had some great meals, drank some beers, drank some margaritas, did a little shopping, attended the wedding, relaxed, took a lot of pictures, drank alot of water (bottled), rented a golf cart to do some sight seeing, saw a turtle farm, saw lots of iguanas, saw a beautiful sunset, and got dollared to death by the locals in "tips". The trip home found us in Cancun airport being called over the intercom. We were told by the officials with Continental that they had overbooked our flight and wondered if it would be ok to be put on a Frontier flight that was non-stop, left 25 minutes later than our original but put us into Denver 3 hours earlier. Duh! Back home we had a backpacking weekend along one of the segments of the Colorado Trail. We had a great time. Even Nick. The following weekend was a soccer tournament. Nick's team took 1st place in his division. He has another tournament next weekend and is part of a 3v3 team that will play a few tournamnents over the summer. Then back to high school soccer in the fall. Jason is taking the summer off of schhol but will start up again in August. He comes and goes more these days but we still get to see quite a bit of him. Candy and I are busy working to pay for it all. I had the opportunity to be an alternate delegate for Obama at the county, Congressional District, and state levels. Candy was able to participate also at the state level. A very interesting process. But I'll do anything to help end the reign of terror we've been subjected to over the past 7 1/2 years. Hope all is well with all of you and yours. I'm always glad to see entries from family members. Especially nieces and nephews. Hint, hint. Love to all. Joe

Nice pictures of my athletic nephew (that would be Nick)!!! Got two of my 4 trees trimmed last night. Will have the remaining 2 done tomorrow (as long as it isn't snowing). My bosses boss' kids are going to clean up the branches and mess! Spring in Minnesota is right around the corner... I hope.

Mark
- 4/28/2008 06:40:00 PM (CDT)

Joe ... I replaced a specific e-mail address with something that hopefully gets the same point across WITHOUT putting a specific e-mail address where the web-bots can get to it. This is the type of page where spammers get their address lists. Hope that's OK. Secondly, sorry if I offended you by making a comment relative to the "cleanliness" of the link to Candy's ComCast Phote Album. Those type of site always have a little longer link. We don't have to hug or anything now, do we? Good. Take care!

Joe (Joe@XStepans.com)
- 4/28/2008 06:14:29 PM (CDT)

PS. The link is NOT ugly. And Nick's hair is now short since he lost a bet to his coach during their tournament in San Diego.

Joe (Joe@XStepans.com)
- 4/28/2008 06:12:34 PM (CDT)

Hi all! This is to let you all know of a link you can click on from this website that will take you to "Candy's Comcast photo album". The intent is not to force anyone to buy pictures. We have this set up here so we can centralize all the photos we take at Nick's soccer games to one location so all the parents on the team can view pictures of their sons. We just happen to have separate files of Nick. And we want to share them with all of you. For those of you who don't know, Nick is on a Premier 1 league team. They are 6-1 right now and destined to move up to the Elite league next year. In addition to league play, they are also playing in the Colorado State Cup tournament. As of now they have advanced to the quarter finals and will play on May 4th against a Fort Collins Arsenal team that is in the Elite league. They have a good shot at winning that game and advancing to the semi finals. Please e-mail Nick at his Stepans.com address and wish him a good game. Nick is the star player on this team. We'll post more pictures as soon as we take them. Unfortunately, Candy and I will not be at Nick's game due to a wedding we committed to some months back. It's in Cancun.....Darn! Love to all, Joe

Hey everyone, when you get a chance, read/learn a little bit about "RSS Feeds" (RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" or something along those lines). Effectively, think of it as a technology that can send you an E-MAIL when a web page changes. A good example/implementation of this is photos.stepans.com. The SITE (web page, URL, etc) has to support it, and you have to have a "reader" (newer versions of Outlook have this built in), but once you combine the 2, effectively there's no more "looking to see what's new". Rather, the system will just tell you! If you're confused or have questions/comments, you know who to ask ... ROB!!! (Just kidding, but he's likely also familiar with them ...)

Here's the note I just received from Uncle Ralph: Dear family and friends It is with the deepest sorrow to report we lost our daughter Mary T. to cancer Saturday night at 11:35 PM. Many watched her closing moments of which I would say were peaceful. Rosary for Wednesday at 7 PM. The services are scheduled for Thursday at 10 AM Jan. 17, both at the Church of the Magdalen.. May this beautiful person rest in peace. Amen! ~!~

Greetings to all! We hope all of you enjoy a healthy and prosperous 2008. Our trip home was pleasant and uneventful. We were pleasantly suprised to see the temperature bump up to 52 degrees as we turned in to downtown Louisville at 5pm. We even got up into the 60's on Friday! How awesome is that? After a week of subfreezing temps in the great white frozen north. Life has returned to normal and are busy with soccer, Boy Scouts, work, and trying to shed the weight that a week of browsing through tables filled with food left on me. 2008 is already filling up for us. A good sized side job in January/February. Soccer tournaments in February and March. Wedding in Cancun in May. 50 Miler in the mountains with Boy Scouts in July or August. Nick will have a learner's permit soon to begin driving. Jason starts college this coming week and will be very busy for the next 20 months. Candy is looking to expand her clientele some and open her books up to be more flexible. I will be looking to take on some more side jobs and am looking at some wood projects that can be mas produced and unloaded easily. I've got the material. Chris, I've got the oak lined up for your extra leaf. Just a few steps and it will be done until I can bring it up to you and match detail on the edge and put finish on it. You can help me out by trying to find a small can of stain to match the existing finish on the table. You've got a year. Paul, we should talk more on getting you some of the wood I have. We fly through Houston in May when we go to and come back from Cancun. I'll be in touch later with our layover schedules. Brittany, thank you so much for letting Aunt Candy and I sleep in your room while we visited. It's such an awesome room. You are one very lucky girl. And Michelle, we thoroughly enjoyed showing you how to do DDR. Nicole, keep up the good work with all your artwork. It's beautiful. Carly, you have got to stop talking my ear off. You are very lucky to have a mom who loves you so much. And now you have the perfect opportunity to learn interior design with your mom. Noah and Parker, tell your dad he needs to bring you all out to visit us in late Septmber/early October for the Great American Beer Festival. It's worth a day or two out of school for him to find Mecca. Neal, Eric, and Jean. Please try to fit Colorado into your near future travel plans. There is SO much to see and do here. You will always have a place to crash with us. Tara, we missed you at the Gathering this year. Come visit when you can. Lastly, Kala and Sarah. It was so good to see the both of you. You are truly beautiful, inside and out. Till next time, all our love. Joe, Candy, Jason, and Nick

Hi all. Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you all ate "just enough". We baked a turkey breast and rotisseried a prime rib. With a few fixin's we had a nice meal. We had the boys' grandma over to eat with us. Had a great time. Jason has signed up to go to a technical college stating Jan. 11th. He'll be concentrating his studies on Auto-CAD. He's excited. Nick starts indoor soccer Friday. He is also now just 3 Merit badges and a project away from finishing Eagle. I'll be finishing one shed attachment to the garage for garden tools and planning a free-standing shed to house all the hardwood I lucked into last month. If anyone needs some, speak up. I'll see what I can do. We are all looking forward to our trip up north. They are talking about shutting the shop down for the week between Christmas and New Years. If so, we may try to head out earlier than the 27th. Maybe the 26th. I'll let you know. All for now. Take care.

Nice look for you, Michelle. Mud brings out the girl in you! Looks like you had a fun time. Did you win? Will you continue playing soccer? Nick finally scored his first Varsity goal last Tuesday ( I missed it because the game started at the same time I got off work). His High School season is over this Tuesday and his club coach can't wait to get the boy's back so he can start un-learning them all the bad habits they've picked up from the high school teams. The Mud Bowl pictures were awesome! Joe

Hey, guess what? There's been another development. For reasons I'll share with you in person, the trip to Florida has been cancelled and our presence in Minnesota is again on. Hopefully, the coach won't change his mind again. Later

Joe (Joe@XStepans.com)
- 9/21/2007 09:51:40 PM (CDT)

Hi all. There has been a development. I'm not sure if we are going to be able to make Minnesota at Christmastime after all. I'll know more later. I was informed by Nick's club coach last night that the team will probably sign up to do a tournament in Florida at about the same time we would be coming to Minnesota. The importance of this tournament is that it is what is known as a "showcase" tournament. Talent scouts from major universities will be there getting a look at the boys there. When Nick was playing for the J/V team he was told by the coach that he thought he had a chance to make it into Division 1 in college. Since then Nick has moved up to the Varsity team and actually started last night as well as playing most of the game. He has a shot at being named the "man of the match" for his performance even though they lost 3-0. I will keep you all posted. In the event that we do not come up for Christmas, we might look at something next summer. Otherwise, all is good here. Joe

Joe (Joe@XStepans.com)
- Tuesday, September 04, 2007 at 23:00:25 (EDT)

Hi again!! Good news for Nick. The Varsity coach called him up Saturday morning and asked him to come play with the Varsity team. He's the only freshman on the team. And, speaking as a proud parent I would have to say that his overall skill is right up there in the top 5 players on the team. He's just not as big as most but is the second fastest. I only worry that he could get run over by some of the bigger kids and hurt. I don't think it will take long for the rest of his teammates to recognize his skill level and start passing to him more. Hopefully practices will take care of that. There is a website that I will give out in e-mails that will take you to some pictures of Nick in action in his first high school game. Later

- 9/31/2007 11:00:31 PM (CDT)

Hi all, it's been a while since I last posted. I'll try to keep it brief. We've finally gotten off overtime (yea!!!). At least for a little while. However, I'm keeping extra busy with a side job for Candy's boss. The work is fairly nasty (relaminating), but pays well. It's been in the 90's here for what seems like forever. Even the humidity has been higher than normal. I've been out running fairly regularly now and have worked on eliminating seconds at mealtimes (now THAT'S hard!). But it's paid off. I've lost 25 lbs over the last 3 months. I feel much better. Candy has been well. She's currently working on a solution as to why the youngest Whippet, Skyler, has been sick. Meningitis maybe. Jason is doing a good job for me at the shop. He will actually be in charge (kinda) of the hardware area while his direct boss is on vacation for the week. Nick is on the JV soccer team for Monarch High School. He missed Varsity by very little. But that's just as well. He wouldn't have gotten nearly as much play time as he'll get for JV. He's not thrilled about his coach but will adapt. They had their first game this afternoon. They won 8-0. The other team wasn't that good (obviously) but Nick had two of the goals and two or three assists. He's far and away the best player on this team so far. His coach had a hard time believing Nick was only a freshman. Says at the rate he's going, he could end up in division 1 in college. When will we be having the Christmas party this year? I vote for the 29th or 30th of Dec. I have the boy (Jason's an adult now) for New Year's this year. Let me know asap so we can line up dog a sitter. Thanks. Well I guess that's all for now. Love to all.

Happy Saturday! I'm looking out my window to mostly blue sky and sunny while listening to the news that 30 miles away I-70 is closed between Denver and the Kansas border due to 1/2 inch of ice on the road and blizzard conditions. Wierd! I finally got a Saturday off work and Candy and I will head up to Fort Collins to sample some wine that we will have made for us. All we need to do is bottle it and pay for it. Two weekends ago Candy and I attended the 5th Annual International Meadfest. Mead is an ancient style of wine made with honey, not grapes. Mostly very sweet and can range from sparkling to a dessert wine. I was very impressed and may have to look into making some this summer. Talk to you all later. Joe

Greetings from the deep freeze of the nation. The weather here over the last 5 weeks has been more like what I remember of Duluth growing up than I care to think about. Last weekend was our annual Klondike winter camping experience with the Boy Scouts. We spent Friday and Saturday nights outside at Wellington lake near Bailey, CO. Friday night dipped down to a balmy -4 degrees and Saturay night reached -16. Polar patches all around. This weekend I spent mostly on the couch reading. Jason turned me on to Eragon. Very good. I highly recommend it to those that are into the fantasy world of Dragons. I will start the 2nd book tomorrow, Eldest. Jason is starting to train for track at school and Nick is doing indoor soccer. So, for a while life is good. I'm coming up on the one year anniversary of working overtime. It's getting kinda old. Me too. Hope everyone's New Year is off to a fantastic start. Candy and I have been thinking of taking the boys with us to her neice's wedding this June in CA and turning it into a regular vacation. Jason will have graduated and it will be in time for him to start work full time after and start working on a real paid vacation for himself. Well, it's getting late for me and I have to work tomorrow. Keep in touch.

Greetings to those checking the site....I was hoping for a little more action on this site since the kids have access but they seem to limit themselves to Club Penguin. Anyone interested in going to the Czech Republic this summer? You do know that it was 100 years ago in June? that Lorenz and Barbara brought two of the youngest kids Albert and Stephanie here to the USA. Don't you think it would be fun to go there? I have a friend who may be organizing a camp for kids (English speaking) and we could tag or tie our program into that. I was thinking of the Spa's in Karlovy Vary not far from where Lorenz and Barbara were married and where Barbara's family was from....golfing at Marianske Lazny maybe a trip down to South Bohemia....?? anyone interested??

In Colorado we are experiencing a beautiful day! The sky is a piercing blue and the resulting reflection off the snow (that is still pretty much everywhere) makes everything shockingly bright. Candy and I spent a little time this afternoon up in Boulder at a Meadery. For those of you who don't know what Mead is, it's a honey wine. Used to be referred to as the wine of the gods. We sampled about 10 different styles and ended up buying 4. We plan to do a walk around the cul-de-sac tomorrow wishing our neighbors a Happy New Year. Since I can't share the mead with all of you, you'll have to be satisfied with this message wishing all of our Family and Friends a Happy and wonderful New Year! Joe

Brittany, thanks for finding the hat. It's actually mine (and my favorite, too). Yes, please mail it to me. I also have a Santa hat that showed up inside the santa hat of one of the Santa Bears we brought home. We will mail it to you also. We got another 10" of snow last night and it looks like we might get more overnight and into tomorrow. We have gotten more snow now in the month of December than we did in all of 2005. Talk to you soon. Joe

Jason, we have your hat at our house and we were wondering if you wanted us to mail it to you. Heres what it looks like: there is words that say Okpik on the frount and below it has a bird. Tell us if you wnat us to mail it to you or not. Well gotta go.

Joe (Joe@XStepans.com)
- Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 21:21:21 (EST)

As Jason indicated yesterday, we are home safely. We had a nice, uneventful trip home. We were amazed to see how much snow we actually got and I was surprised to see most of it still here. It's usually mostly melted by now. I'm also hearing that we may get another foot or so tomorrow. Hope so. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Dave and darnell for their hospitality while we were there. And a special thanks to Brittany and Nicole for letting Candy and I sleep in their beds. They are so nice and warm and comfortable. And Nicole for the beautiful gift. We are looking for a special place to hang it. And to Darnell's sister Cindy for her hospitality on Christmas eve (as well as Thanksgiving). It's like being part of her family. I am feeling much better now. Just a touch of upper chest congestion along with a slight cough. It was good to be back at work.....NOT. Anyways, we look forward to seeing any of you we get to see in the coming year. We plan to go to a comedy show on New Years eve followed by a party hosted by one of my Scout parents. To all of you out there, have a safe and Happy New Years. Joe

Dave (& everyone else), I talked to Rob earlier today and I think they're going to check out the motel in Clearwater. There's also an AmericInn and a Holiday Inn Express in St Augusta (6 miles up the freeway). No drinks of any kind can be brought into the Clubhouse and the only food that would be allowed is snacks, etc ... OK?

Missed you last night Chris! The St. Nicholas party was another success. St. Nick and his angel were there as well as Cert (pronounced ch-ert) or the devil who scared a few little lads as well as adults. He was a good looking devil if I might say so myself. If I can get someone who took his picture with a digital maybe I'll post it on the website. Darnell just ordered a digital so we are now keeping up with most of you. I haven't seen the camera yet but I heard it was nice....I will have a fresh batch of beer for the Christmas season as we are brewing this Wednesday and bottling two weeks later....Paul asked if anyone was doing a Hotel like last time. Does anyone remember the name of the hotel we stayed at?? Mark will we be able to bring anything into the party room...as in food or drink? And thanks for volunteering........will you please let us know our share of cost of the room?? Tomorrow is Alison's fundraiser I hope to make it but its busy day with a brunch in the morning and YMCA Voyageurs meeting to do a Christmas present making project for the moms... ssshh......its a secret! Chris I glad you taking charge of your life again. All is well here!

It is almost the end of the work week and I am happy I will have 2 days to spend with my best girl, Carly! Tonight we are going to the Czech hall to see St. Nicholas and to see the girls dance. Just got off the phone with my water softener company. I am buying the softener outright, so that will save me much yearly bucks. I also called a new garbage carrier, and my smaller can will cost approximately half. It is amazing what can happen when you put a woman in charge!

Kala, thanks for all your submissions. I enjoy them all. I did not know you had a guestbook. I'll check it out later. We are in the deep freeze here in Louisville. Last night got below zero. Tonite probably will also. It still hasn't stopped me from wearing shorts and a t-shirt at work. We will be doing a lot of traveling in the next month and a half. Candy & I will visit her mom in Lodi, CA in two weekends. Minnesota for Christmas, and Las Vegas in early January for a soccer tournament. Brittany, make sure that you make some time to contribute to the guest book after you read this. Then ask your sisters (nicely, of course) to add their two cents worth also. We don't want Kala to feel all alone. Love to all, Joe

Well looks like Aunt Cindy will have many Stepans over to her house for Thanksgiving. The girls are excited that Kala and Sarah will be joining us. I talked to Mary this weekend she was down with Jean and Jeff looking at colleges. This weekend it was the "main U"....I think those of us from Duluth are really the only ones who refer to the "U of M " as the "Main U". Mary stated she will be going to Spooner on Friday and not be back until late Friday. I guess Joe and Candy can hang out with Dad...Joe you may need to think about daylight hours for trying to get stuff out that shed in the back. I ended up just backing up all the way to the shed when I unloaded all that stuff. So Kala you like the "pressure" of school. That should ready you for those stressful midterms and finals...just keep working hard and you'll do fine. Michelle scored about 12 of the 18 points for their basketball game on Saturday and I started playing on Friday nights with some of the guys in the neighborhood...That's it for now..I'm working on putting in a gas insert fireplace upstairs....ran the gas line and electric but will need to discombobulate the damper. Hopefully I'll be done by Thanksgiving! Still haven't finished the patio either....guess I should just concentrate on one project at a time... naw....guess I'd rather Multi-project (their bigger than any one task)!!!

I just thought that I would drop in and say hey to everyone...I am sitting in the library and "studying" hehe. To Michelle...yes I still am with my boyfriend and I am sorry that I haven't been able to write I have been doing homework and stuff like that. to Nicole...I am sorry babe that I missed your birthday...I believe that I was out with dad for lunch that day and he might have mentioned it but then I had to get going and totally forgot..anyways I love you and hope you had a wonderful birthday with your girlfriend...which I know you probably did. School has been going good its a little more stressful but I like that sometimes. Otherwise I am just hanging out watching movies and relaxing in my free time. I love everyone and will try to get in here more often...talk to you all later.

Hi all, Hope all is well with you all. Time is flying by at the speed of light (would it go slower at the speed of dark? Hmmmm...). Anyway, Nick's team tied again on Saturday (against another first place team). Their goalkeeper was out after about 3 minutes after being on the receiving end of a kick to his lower leg that broke his leg. Nick played keeper for alot of the rest of the game. He came back out onto the field enough to score once on a PK but it still wasn't enough to win with. The make-up game on Sunday was different. They beat the team from Laramie 6-0 and now will advance from premier 2 to premier 1. Yea!!!! Candy and I are looking forward to Thanksgiving with you this year. Last week we had days that were in the 80's and this week we are in the 40's. Wierd. Sarah, you keep pushing your dad for that trip out west. We'd love to show you the fun things to do out here. Any and all are welcome. Time to go . Love to all. Joe

Greetings to all of you bothering to look at the guestbook. The kids are always looking here to see if anyone has posted anything. Nicole turned 8 on Saturday so we had a small party for a few of her screaming girlfriends. Darnell was gone so I was the lucky MC for the afternoon. It was a busy day as we started with Michelle's basketball game where they got clobbered 38-4 with Michelle scoring all 4 points. She could've had 20 and would have had her dad taught her the "lay up" Once I get my basketball post in the ground we will work on it. Nicole is playing indoor soccer this fall/winter so there goes my Saturdays. The patio's 1st stage of construction is about 90% complete and I'm hoping for one day I'm off where the weather will cooperate. It looks good so far. Brittany was at a retreat this weekend for confirmation and had fun. I'm looking forward to Joe and Candy coming for Thanksgiving. Sounds like Mark,Chris and Carly will also join us. That's it for now...take care all of you. Dave

OK, effective immediately, an "extra character" will be automatically inserted into all e-mail addresses used on this page. When you submit an entry, it should be fairly obvious what the extra character is. The reason for doing this is that there are "crawlers" that look on pages like this for e-mail addresses. Once they're found, let the spamming begin!!! We obviously don't want that, so since all of that crap is automated, they likely won't be able to tell what the REAL e-mail address is, but when you VISUALLY look at them on this page, the TRUE address will be obvious to you. Geez, what those low-life, no-good, (oops, sorry, this is family site!) ... spammers put us through! Anyway, I'll update the existing entries below later tonight. As always, contact me if you have any comments, questions, or if I confused the be-jeebers out of you!!!

Mark (YouKnowWho@XStepans.com)
- Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 10:25:05 (EST)

All, I'm escalating the "war on spam" a little. I modified the script that runs "behind the scenes" when a guestbook entry is made. If it worked, you'll see the result ...

- Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 10:09:13 (EST)

Thanks for the latest news Brittany! Sorry your team didn't win more games but the important question I would ask you is "Did you have fun"? That really is the most important thing. I watched the Colorado Rapids play FC Dallas last night on tv. The Rapids lost 2-1 last weekend to them so they had to win by 1 to tie it up and go into overtime. They did just that. They tied again in overtime so they went to a 5 man penalty kick shootout. They tied that also. Then the 6th PK they finally won it. Very exciting. Nick and a few of his friends went out to a corn maze last night. We didn't get home til about 11:30. Candy & I will be coming up to Minnesota on Thanksgiving weekend. Our purpose is to pick up the stuff from dad that I asked for. We will also assist in depleting Thanksgiving leftover supplies. Believe it or not, it's cheaper for us to make an extra trip up in the Prius than for us to make one trip in the Tundra. More comfortable, too. Jason has been coming in to work with me on Saturdays and any other day school is out (every other day it seems like). When he is done with high school he will be taken on full time and they will start teaching him the computerized machines we have in our machine room. He plans to take evening classes (1 or 2 at a time) while working to work in the Architectural Design field. Tonight we will be going to see the play "The Lion King". I'll critique it for you later this week. Our absentee ballots have already come out so I'm done voting for this election cycle. I'll just be glad when the ads are off tv. They are very bad out here. Or maybe they just seem worse when you follow politics as closely as we do. Well enuf for now. Love to all. Joe, Candy, and the boys.

- 10/28/2006 07:06:27 PM (CDT)

Its so sad!!! My team just had their last game today!!! I miss everyone so much!! Our team won 1 out of 8 games this year. I hope to see everyone again next year, but I won't be with them because it was only for 5th-6th graders only. I might be doing summer soccar next year. Only it will only be a girls team not a girls and boys. In the games that I had I was always forard of midfeild. Everyone can do something new if they try. This is really off the subject, but has anyone gone on www.clubpenguin.com yet??? Also we have this really old picture of Nicole, Michelle, Nick, Jason and mewhen we were really young!!! It is really funny to look at the picture because no one lookes like themself.

Hi all. I've had a very busy week. Last week I hurt by back at work. Strained or tore a lower back muscle. I'm much better now. Many ice packs and lots of ibufrofen. Work has been a strain lately. Jason and I went to the Rapids first playoff game last Sat night. Nick was at his mom's and Candy was in Rapid City. The Rapids lost 2-1 with the worst reffing I've seen in a pro game. They should have won 2-1. Anyway, we had a nice dinner after the game. Candy and I still aren't 100% sure we're making the Thanksgiving trip but there is a high probability of it. I think it will be just Candy and I. Either way, we'll let you know. It will be a quick trip to pick up the stuff of dad's from Mary. The highlight will of course being able to see as many of you as possible. Later, Joe

Looks like today has been a busy day in Stepan world. Tom, thanks for checking us out. You make sure you do whatever it takes to get your keister (and those of your buddies with you) back home safe and sound! Michelle, was that really you? I can totally believe that your soccer team is named the Fireballs if you're on it. Sounds like you do a good job on the team if you are tied for 1st place. Hi to Brittany and Nicole. We all look forward to seeing you at Christmas. Carly, I hope you're feeling better soon. Having a sore throat will make it hard for you to talk to me and I know how much you'd like to talk to me for hours and hours. And I'd listen for hours and hours. Didn't I hear that ice cream makes your throat feel better? Today we got our first taste of snow in the Denver metro area. It's been snowing since about 10 am and is expected to continue off and on until about noon on Wednesday. Then the sun will come out and all should be melted by about 12:05 pm. Or so. Ok, time for bed. Goodnight all! Joe

Tom, Thanks for stopping by ... If you go to the "Family Tree" page, there's an "org chart" to help with NAMES, and then each of my siblings has their own page, most with a fairly recent photo. Hope all is and continues to go well for you in the land of heat, sand, and bullets!!! (Particularly stay out of the way of the latter!!!) Come home SAFE and SOON!

My little nieces and nephews are so funny! Hope you all think about Carly in the next few days for me. She has been complaining about not being able to swallow when she is lying down. Yesterday, I took her to see her doctor and she replied that Carly has huge tonsils... Strep test came back negative so if she is still having trouble into Thursday, she goes back to see if it is Mono. If it is, the tonsils will have to come out. For someone who has never had a sore throat... this is somthing pretty surprising for me - and pretty scary for her.

Jason (jason@Xstepans.com)

Way to go Nicole!! Keep up the good play. We are all very proud of you. I hope you are doing as well in school. One day you might have an opportunity to be eligible for a college scholarship. Soccer scholarships are very hard to come by and it helps a lot to have a good academic background. So, hit those books girl or I might have to visit some noogies on you. Good night.

Carly certainly enjoyed her time at the Czech/Slovak fest on Sunday. Always fun Dave. Thanks for the reminder. Brittany, when do you have to have the magazine orders in? Maybe Carly and I will have to have a look-see at the list. Do you play soccer this weekend as that may be a good time to see you and the list...?

Joe (Joe@XStepans.com)

Hi all, we had a busy weekend. I had to work Sat morning and then we went to the CU-Baylor football game. Our neighbor had tix they couldn't use. We didn't stay for the 3 overtimes just to see CU lose it in the end anyway. Sunday we worked a pancake breakfast for Scouts and then went downtown to see the new Denver Art Museum. Check it out on the web. From the outside it is unlike anything you have ever seen. Inside there is hardly anything with 90 degrees to it. Sloped walls galore. Very wierd. Today was 10 hours of work followed by a Scout meeting. I'm exhausted. Brittany, as always it's wonderful to hear from you. Keep it up! Dave, happy Belated Birthday. Hope you had a great time. Michelle, what are you feeding your hamster? Please don't tell me it's pieces of the.... no, that would be bad. Nicole, how many goals have you scored lately? Carly, nice dress! Later, everyone. Have a good week. Joe

What a salesperson! Just let me know either way....Last Sunday was a fun day at our annual Czech and Slovak Day Festival....I got to dance with Brittany for part of the program and MC'd most of the day. Chris and Carly showed up so that was nice. Our cat got hold of Michelle's hamster "Cookie" and it didn't make it. I buried it today...but we bought another one for Michelle which she named "Junior"....time for the kids to brush and go to bed....so I've got to go. Heading to Duluth on Thursday to clean out Dad's garage.

Joe (Joe@XStepans.com)
- 10/04/2006 10:25:47 PM (CDT)

Michelle, can you tell me what you like most about soccer? Dave/Darnell, Congratulations on your 13th! Chris, if Carly is too shy to participate, now is the time to start coaxing her out of her shell. She will need a few things from you. You start with "baby steps". Let her progress at her own speed. Talk with her about each time she does it. Praise and encourage. Let her be involved in the activities SHE likes. And(very important), model the behavior. If it's speaking in crowds, you need to speak in crowds and she needs to see you do it. Dancing will be more difficult, however, there is nothing a young kid enjoys more than to see an adult acting like a kid. It all takes time. Michelle, what's your favorite class in school? Why? Which class do you like the least? Why? Good night, and good luck.

Nicole is right and if anyone has ever seen me dance I definitely dance like NO ONE is watching....otherwise I would be highly embarrassed. Sunday is our Czech and Slovak Day Festival if anyone is interested in seeing the kids perform. CSPS Hall in St. Paul 383 Michigan St. 1 mile west of the Excel Energy Center on West 7th.

Chris and Carly if she changes her mind about dancing. You'll have lots of practice first and when we performe you don't have to look at the people looking at you.Just pretend that no one is waching.

Aunt Chris (chris@Xstepans.com)
- 10/04/2006 06:36:24 AM (CDT)

Brittany- Sorry but Carly won't be dancing this time around. She is VERY shy and the thought of dancing in front of anybody is frightening to her. I am so proud of all my dancing nieces though... and brother, of course. THis winter Carly is going to get back into swimmimg - something she enjoys.

The girls are definitely excited about this computer and website...and they all have their own email address now....... Mary and Jeff stopped by tonight after the Twins loss....they went to the game. First time Mary was in the dome.....what 24 years after first being built. Neil was supposed to come by but stood us up...said he was called into work. Hopefully the Twins will have their way tomorrow. Darnell and I celebrated our 13th anniversary yesterday with a skate around the lakes and a nice dinner at our favorite restaraunt...followed by my favorite ice cream shop. As we were around one of the lakes we skated by Anne Mae and Fred Vagle.....what were the chances of that? They both looked good and were heading up to Grove Lake today for some R & R. Work is going well for me. Paul what's up with Toshiba? Hope all is well with all of you.

Hi all. Thought I would get my two cents worth in while the going is good. We have no soccer to report on here, though. Actually, not much is new in Texas. No projects underway. We do have a craft show booth later this month. I'm trying to get rid of a bunch of the ceramic items I made during a couple of classes at the local com. col. Tara is doing well in school. She is applying for an organization that goes to NY NY as part of the class. How exciting is that! Karen is having a ball decorating for fall. Pumpkins anyone? Keep up the chatter!

Wow! Such a flurry of activity in the Stepan guestbook. It brightens my day to read the new postings from everyone, thank you Brittany and Nicole. I must have missed Michelle's. Has she been writing? Or is she hiding from us? Congratulations again to Brittany, this time for SCORING! Nicole, should we nickname you Mia or Hamm? And Nicole, if you are playing in the Olympics, we will take vacation time and come out to see you. We wouldn't miss it! Dave, Candy and I are playing with the idea of taping Nick's games. It would be valuable to his team to see what they are doing wrong as well as what they do right. If we can get a good one together we'll get it to you somehow. Nick has a bye week this Saturday and the following Saturday he has to play goalkeeper as the regular keeper will be gone. So hopefully the 21st. Take care all and lotsa love.

Joe, If you get the inclination sometime to video tape Nick playing it might be inspirational to the girls.....although they all are doing GREAT! Nicole must have about 11-12 goals in 4 games...Michelle as had two but typically play as a defender and Brittany just moved to forward last week and scored this week.... I'm coaching Brittany's team and have yet to watch Michelle play as the game times typically conflict. dave

Hi everyone again. Thank you uncle joe for the nice letter. I forgot to also say in soccar I scored my forst goal!!!!! thankyou uncle joe for writing. Wen i'm in the olympics what if you have someing else goin on and you can't make it?? maybe i'll ask my parents to video tape it for you. Then you can see it but you might not be able to see me score a gole.Actually I don't know I'll just see when I'm older gota go bye bye.

Thank you for your messages, Brittany and Nicole! How wonderful to hear from you. Congrats to Brittany's team on their first win and to Nicole's for being unbeaten! Soccer is the fastest growing sport in America and I'm glad you are showing an interest in it. If you make it to the Olympics, Nicole, I'll come to all your games! And Brittany, I hope you continue to work hard in school. It won't get any easier as you go but hopefully you will have fun as you do your work. Learning is a fun thing to do. Nick's team won their 5th in a row this season. All shutouts so far. Nick is the star plyer on the team and is well liked by all. He does so well because he is a team player. Not a ball hog. But I still want him to do well in school. He is someone who could get a soccer scholarship to college, but the chances go way up if you do well in school. Besides, you should always have a plan "B" for when your soccer career is over. We all look forward to seeing everyone for Christmas. Love to all (even Michelle who didn't write. Hope she does soon)!

Hi all, just updated my site with pics from Vegas and A&M. WIll add more later. It's pretty easy doing them in batches or one at a time. Fall is just about here. Temps are starting to cool off. I'm looking for a new job while still employed at Toshiba. It may affect Christmas. We'll have to play it by ear. karen is looking forward to the holidays. She has decorations galore and loves to set them out. Tara is hard at it at school. Lots of studying, etc. Take care.

Carly has a new pet - a goldfish she named Bubbles! We went to cousin Barb's church fall festival and Carly had a blast. Good cheap fun. She is now getting in the swing of 2nd grade - and loving it. She has most of her friends in the same class so that is good for my shy little one. Not much else going for me except, well... you all know.

Hooray for school! Otherwise life goes on. I'm doing some side work for Candy's new boss (a project that is a cross between making a few extra bucks and getting in good with the boss). Nick's soccer team took first place in the Colorado open to qualify to play in the State Cup. He has been nominated to try out for ODP (Olympic Development Program) and should start that soon. Jason is taking a couple of computer classes that will help him next summer when he comes to work at the shop. The machine room always has a need for guys willing to learn how to run a CNC to machine parts. He's also taking Theatre. Interesting. Talked to Dad last weekend. Sounds like he's getting in the swing of things at St. Anne's. The hardest thing appears to be remembering names. We do plan to be in Minnesota for the Christmas party. Until then, keep in touch. Now that the kids are back to school......... finally I will be planning on finishing some of those smaller projects around the house. The patio, retaining wall and bathroom are on the short list with a few others scattered between. I finally have a new and improved computer so I am online with the speed of dsl. Thanks to Mark I am figuring my way around this machine and will get to know it when I can ....in other words when the kids aren't on it. Saturday morning starts fall soccer. Even Brittany is playing! I need to get and see Clarence's new digs at St. Annes. He has the same phone number. Keep in touch and stay well!....dave

We are all back safe and sound from a fantastic week on the water in the BWCAW. The fires in northern Minnesota were close to us but only played a minor factor. We had the power to adjust our route so we stayed far enough away that we could see the smoke in the distance (and smell it) but were in no danger. We saw Eagles, Loons, Herons, Jason's group saw a bear, and some fish were caught. Swimming was the highlight, usually preceded by the splashing with paddles and the tipping of canoes. Portaging is not for sissies. Thanks again to Mary and Dad for hooking up with us up in Ely before we got on the water and at Canal Park on our way home. Everyone commented on what a great family we have. No surprise there.

Back from Lost Wages. We didn't gamble too much, mainly the one arm bandit. We donated about $20. Tara ended up winning about $50, blackjack and slots. Lucky girl! Got Jean's facebook. Nice pic of the knee. Will send up pics to post. Not much else going on. see ya

Alaska was great got my limit of fish....got sick on the Halibut Charter but that's life. Ran Grandma's with a 3:39:59 but had a blistering 7:30 pace for the first 14/15 miles and then hit the wall...we were at Tomahawk Scout Camp during the week of the 4th and had a great time....next week were off three days to Wisconsin Dells. Heading to Duluth tomorrow to golf and then back with Dad to the Eichten family reunion.... Hope all is well. Next year will the the 100 year anniversary of when Grandpa Albert and his mother and father arrived in the USA.....I know there are cousins interested in going to Czech...if any of you have an interest please let me know.

Hi all. To answer a question from Dave, Tara is interning at MD Anderson in their marketing department. Even though it is an unpaid job, it should look good on a resume! We are heading to Vegas for her 21st b-day. Should be a hot time. Dave, with Tara still in school, we won't have the $$ to go to the Czech Republic next year. We would seriously consider it in two years, though. We have wanted to go back to England so it would be better timing if we did both. How did the marathon go? Well, post ya later.

Hi all, Just thought I'd let you know next week I'll be Alaska with Dan Jobin and Don Claveau. I'll be back on Thursday up to Duluth on Friday and running Grandma's Marathon on Saturday. I've scaled back my expectations from qualifying for Boston (under 3:20) to finishing without stopping. I'll let you all know how I do when I get back. See you soon. dave

Hi all. We were down in Albuquerque over the memorial Day weekend for Nick's soccer tournament. They won 3 and lost 1 (to a team from El Paso that I swear are shaving!). The championships were set up for the winners in both brackets to play each other. But all in all it was a great time. Nick scored once and assisted a few times. He had try-outs tonight (even though he made the team they still go through the motions). School is almost over for the boys. Nick is enrolled in a fundamentals golf class (we hope to sharpen his ability to focus, or swear) and will take a weight training fundamentals course so he can use the rec center facilities without having a parent or guardian there. We are also considering a running coach to go over his form. Jason gets to come to work. Candy is going out to California to visit her mother (and brothers) in early June. She is also taking Skyler with her to a couple of dog shows. I have been camping a lot and look forward to canoeing in Northern Minn the last two weeks of July. Love to all, Joe and the gang.

I am in a boring class, with Derek Kloss, and decided to write a little message. I am getting a little nervous now that the end of high school as i know it is ending. I will be in college next year, omg. I can't even believe it. I am excited but nervous all at the same time. This weekend is the first whole weekend that i have off from work and I am really excited to see my daddy. i think we are planning to go maybe to duluth and then possibly to the cities to see my favorite little cousins, Brittany, Michelle, and Nicole. I love you gurls. hope to see you soon. well class is almost over so i will see you later. Love you all, Kala

Good to hear from you Paul and Joe. Congrats Tara on her gpa....what is she doing for her internship? Is she still dating the same upper classmate? Brittany has been wanting to go camping..Darnell isn't real keen on it so I might have to leave her home. I'll have long weekends all summer long so I hope to make the best of it. We are having a 13?14 year old neihbor watching the kids on the days I work so the kids are looking forward to that change. Brittany and Michelle have Tennis lessons later this summer and Nicole and Michelle do a playground thing a few hours in the pm during the summer. I'll be in Alaska fishing 6/8-6/15 and then running grandma's father's day weekend. I talked with Anna Mae Vagle a couple weeks ago and she asked about a family reunion/vacation in Czech Republic next year. Any interest??? We have a three day Wisconsin Dells vacation planned sometime in July but otherwise I'll be working on two patios and a retaining wall.....a new bathroom might need to be contracted out.... that's it for now. Hope to hear from you all soon..............Dave

Update from Tex. We moved Tara home yesterday for the summer. She started her intern job today. No rest for the weary. We had a small funnel cloud start to form right over her dorm as we were packing up! Nothing came of it except for a hard rain. Luckily we were done loading and were able to park in a garage until it blew over. Not much else is going on now. Keep on posting!

Hi all, Hey this high speed internet stuff is great! No more waiting on those downloads. Once we get together a good batch of pictures we'll send them out for all to peruse. The cruise over spring break was awesome. Swimming with Stingrays on Grand Cayman was cool. They kind of slither over your body. Cozumel had little in the way of live tree vegetation after last years hurricane. Mother nature in all her power. Mayan ruins in Belize (formerly British Honduras) were so awesome! Over a thousand years old. Gas there was $9.92/gal. There are definitely people worse off than us. Costa Maya was beautiful. We just shopped and layed in the sun. My Prius is still posting high mileage. 57 mpg on the last tank. I love that car. Nick has a soccer game today down in Colorado Springs. He recently switched soccer clubs (after a nasty confrontation with the old club's president in front of the whole team-kids and parents). He was a little apprehensive at first since he moved to a team that had kids with some real skills. But he's settled in nicely and is now the team scoring leader. He's also playing in a mid-skill level basketball league as well as running track for school. Jason is looking forward to finishing h.s. next year and has shown some interest in pursuing a career in animation of some sort, probably anime. He will be working with me at the shop again this summer. He's developing into a good little cabinetmaker. At least on the production end of it. He's talking about getting a new car with this summer's money but I'm not so sure he's aware of how expensive the bottom line is on that. I'm still doing Scouts. The boys are not as involved as I am so my interest is waning. It's hard to enjoy it all the time when your own kids are doing other things. The whole idea od being a scout leader was to be involved with the boys. Jason is in a Venture crew but they don't do much (but what they do they have fun at and it's better than hanging out on a street corner). I enjoy the camping but it usually means I'm missing one of Nick's soccer games. Candy and I are going to be getting stuff together for a cul-de-sac wide garage sale next weekend. I'll be camping that weekend (perk) so my work is on the front end. Guess I should be checking the guest book more often so I don't end up writing novels (works of fiction?). Iwill make a note of it.

So dad gave up on the cell phone eh? Too bad his patience level for technology is ZIP. And with the computer gone he can't see what I write? He called almost everyday he had the cell phone...it was like he was a kid with a new toy. Now the toy's gone... I visited Kala's and Sarah's websites...nice. For those not in the know I will be in Alaska June 8 to the 15th. I will be with a group mainly of Duluth guys fishing. I hope that Don Claveau might be able drive down for a day or so.... Festival of Nations is coming May 6th....Kenneth Stepan thought he and Julie might come down when I talked with him last ....I haven't spoken with him for about a month so I'm not sure how he's doing. Girls had a bout of some virus after coming back from Lutson during spring break but for the most part they are doing better. So Kala's going to SCSU.....I thought you were going to be a Benny?? Probably better off at State............ See ya around. Dave

Hi all, SCSU rocks! I was actually thinking of going there instead of UMD. You'll enjoy college, especially since you are close to home. Stay on campus if you can so you can get the whole college experience. Good luck. Tara is into facebook. Do you know it? Tara is at tennisgirl@Xneo.tamu.com to get info on it. It is very popular with college students. Paul & Karen

Yeah I am so excited to go there and then I found out that one of my good friends is going to go with me so I do not have to be all alone in a HUGE school for the first time. So yeah I have to get working on my homework but its always good to hear from everyone and get a message in this guestbook. Kala

I check daily if anybody ever writes in the Guestbook section of the site. Carly and I are going to Mike Schilling's surprise birthday party this Saturday (28th). He will be 60 and I guess Aunt Clara will be 82. ALWAYS fun to see the Schillings! As Terri would say "the more surprises the better when it comes to Mike."! I have been in contact with a parent of one of Carlys' classmates (he is in Kindergarten) named Brad Blaschko. Yes, he grew up in LeCenter, but has no idea how our families fit together... if they do. He said there is a Blaschko reunion this weekend, so he will ask around. I sent Brad the pictures of Mary and Anna's wedding to the Blaschko brothers, and Dave gave him a run down of names he may recognize to ask questions of. Small world! Carly and I are off to the library after work/school.

Good to hear the Texans made it through Rita. So, what do I see about Mark and Dad going on another adventure? Are you going to both Rapid City and to Joe & Candy's? I have thought recently about doing the same thing again someday with Steve and Carly. She still talks about the Whippets and about Evans Plunge. That certainly was a fun wedding to go to! Later!

I just got off the phone with Paul and Karen. As you may have seen from watching the coverage of the storm, it weakened a LITTLE and also slid slightly east of Houston. As a result, everything is FINE with Paul and Karen. They lost power only momentarily and do not expect to find ANY damage. Paul said he would send out another more detailed update once they get back into a groove (obviously having been up most of the night they will need a little "re-coup" time). The bullet dodged them a little, thankfully. But that also just means someone ELSE got hit by it ... Mark

Attached are pictures of the house last night, the first of the clouds associated with Rita along with one of plants in the backyard that we hope to see again. The traffic has finally cleared off the highway, so if we decide to bail and go to stay with Tara (she is in a dorm built like a prison), we could make it there in just over an hour (standard time) now instead of the ~10 hours that people were reporting. Yesterday seemed like two days. It's hard to believe that today is only Firday. Well, I'll try to update you when we can. Love, Paul, Karen, Tara

Latest news from Houston: Tara is at college (Texas A&M in College Station, approximately 80 miles NW of Houston), so she should be safe. Paul & Karen are currently planning to stick it out at home. If/as we hear anything new, please inform others and post a note here if possible. Thanks!!!

Hello family!!! Just coming off the weekend and hoping work goes a little quicker! Haven't been in the guestbook area forever. Hello to all... Kala, Cindy, KaTy, Joe, Paul, Mark, Dave! I will now have to searh for the promised Prius picture! 50 mph... I am so jealous. My new car doesn't get half that! Take care all!

Hey all, even though I alluded to the GuestBook being available again a couple or 3 weeks ago, I actually completed everything late last night. From now on there isn't a separate READ and WRITE (sign) page. This single page will support both. Let me know if you have any thoughts/comments.

Hi all! Nick and I have just returned from Scout camp. We had a great time! Jason stayed in town so he could work. He's doing very well there. Smarter than most of the people we hook in. Cindy, I'm so glad you saw Jason's Eagle project. The sing leading out to the path made it on the Adams County Open Space calendar for 2004. Jason was feeling pretty good about that. Nick will advance to First Class in a couple of weeks. By this time next year he could be approaching Eagle also. Mark, I will be sending a picture soon of my new car. The Prius is averaging about 50 mpg so far. Love to all

For those other Stepans out there who know Clarence. May 24th was his 80th birthday. I think he still has email access so send him a note at Clarence@Xstepans.com.... Good to see Cindy and Katy having visited this site. I know that the 18th of June is Kenneth's garage sale and Katy's in charge of it. I have a few items that I need to get up there so if anyone is heading that way let me know and I'll load you up! I won't make it that weekend as I'll be running Grandma's Marathon.....well I hope that I'll be "running" and not "walking" it. See you all soon!

Dear Stepans, Just thought I would let you know that I finally saw the sign that Jason made for his Eagle project. NICE JOB, JASON! Rafael and I were at Barr Lake yesterday and had a great visit. There is a nest of bald eagles out there and this is the first year for the couple to have eaglets (2 of them). Wish Renee had been with me so I could share in some of her vast knowledge of bird watching. Had a nice time. Will be home for a brief visit with Mom this summer. My uncle Ken Terhaar is planning a Terhaar reunion and I've not been able to make any of the others........so I'm looking forward to some visiting. Hope you are all doing well. No surgeries planned for Rafael this summer, so life is good. Have a great summer.

Kala, I will contact you next time we go skiing. I haven't skied the Rockies yet but would be willing to give it a try. For now I will limit my children to the rolling hills in Minnesota. Brittany had a color guard performance last Saturday up at Sauk Rapids/Rice HS. It was fun! and remimded me a little of your "just for kix" programs. I'm not sure if we will continue in this program as its on the other side of the cities for practice. I'll write again later. dave

Kala, I'm glad you're enjoying the web site. You better be careful about the "rituals" though or people might start comparing you to ME ("Mr Ritual"! ha ha). To answer your questions about the disparity between those that HAVE and those that DON'T HAVE "personal" pages, there's no reason or rationale for it. If I had a reason to create one, I did. I didn't go out of my way to create one or omit anyone. I'd LOVE IT if you would help me with content. That would make it even more fun ... For everyone! I love you sweetie. Now get back to your schoolwork!!! ha ha Daddio

Hey again, I just had a quick question for you dad. Why do some of the grandchildren have pictures on their own section and some of them do not? Like Jean, Neil, Eric, Jason, Nick have their own and Carly, Michelle, Nicole, and Brittany do not?? I was just wondering and if it is because you do not have any pics of them I know I have some of them so do no worry. LOVE YA, *~ME~*

Dave I really would love to drive down and see you peoples but I am so busy and I just got over being sick so now maybe I will have time. Skiing is my favorite thing to do in the winter and PLEASE tell me when you go, anywhere skiing! Paul what a GREAT idea, as you can see skiing is my favorite sport and it has been one of my dreams to go skiing in the Rockies. Count me IN! Dad I love you and I will talk to you soon. Nick took a couple of awards at his soccer banquet two weekends ago. I will be taking the Scout Troop up into the mountains this weekend for our annual Klondike campout. Joe

Being the illiterate computer person that I am, my husband surprised me tonight by logging into your web site. He was right.......he said it would be something I would want to see. I have to tell you, it was very emotional to see all the pictures of your family as you were growing up (as I best remember you all). All I could think of was "What beautiful children!" Keep up the contact with each other. I know how much it means to me to have my extended family in my life. Not everyone is so blessed. I wish you all the best in the New Year. And if you ever get to Colorado to visit Joe, remember that you have a cousin here also. Love to you all, Cindy

Our pictures turned out pretty good. There were maybe half a dozen cute prints in there. Not bad for 90-some. However the key word is were. In the downloading process Candy zigged when she should have zagged and they got lost. We did print off one copy of the family that is pretty good. Nicole was doing a felix the cat eyes pose and Noah didn't look in the best of spirits. Everyone else looked perfect. So if you want to see it the address is 113 W. Sycamore Ln. Louisville, CO. You're welcome any time.

It is 3:30 pm here in Colorado. We have been home here in Louisville for about 2 hours. Most of our stuff is put away and the laundry is on the way. Thank you all for your wonderful hospitality! Candy enjoyed herself immensely on this, her virgin trip to Duluth. We had a white knuckle drive through half of Nebraska. There was much sprinkling going on and wind blowing. Fortunately the temperature was in the mid 40's. We were greeted in western Nebraska with clear blue skies and are enjoying it as I write this. Very windy though. The Whippets just about peed themselves with excitement when we arrived home. Very little damage so we were very happy. Now we are looking forward to New Years and the chance to start shedding the weight gained this holiday season. Again, thank you to all for your hospitality and we hope to see you soon somewhere.

But also I do not know what I would put on my page anyways. I'm just kiddin Sarah if you read this ever. I know I have time but I really really do not know what I would put. I love you DAD! I am looking forward to being with you on Christmas Eve and going to the party for the Stepans.
