Home Up 2003 2002 2001

The summit of Mount Belford (Colorado).

Located in the Sawatch Range of the San Isabel Forest, it peaks out at 14,197 and is ranked #19 on the list of Colorado's 54 14ers.  We hiked it Saturday, July 6th (2002).  We took about 4 1/2 hours to ascend and 2 1/2 hours to descend. Nick was pretty worn out going up and I was lucky I had a tight fit on my fanny pack going down or my hips would have exploded. It was our first 14er together (I've run the Pike's Peak marathon twice as a lad) and I'm very proud of the boys. They did think about all you cheese wienies down there at altitude while on top of the mountain and wished you were there. Oh, and Jason is now 1/2" shorter than Joe (Dad).
